Shawnee Mission Parkway Corridor Plan

Merriam, Kansas

Informed by extensive stakeholder and community outreach efforts, this plan was crafted to serve as a playbook for the City of Merriam to guide and evaluate future redevelopment proposals.

A large portion of the City's frontage along the Interstate 35 corridor has been redeveloped over the last 10+ years, yet the area adjacent to the Shawnee Mission Parkway corridor interchange has not changed significantly. Confluence led a multi-disciplinary team to engage the community and establish a vision for the future of this area - which resulted from evaluating five redevelopment scenarios ranging from adaptive reuse of the existing buildings to redeveloping the entire site with high-density mixed-use development.

Our work included analyzing existing conditions, crafting alternative redevelopment scenarios, and evaluating each scenario to explore the financial and economic development potential. These results were crafted to assist the City in their review of future area redevelopment projects.
