Roe Boulevard + Johnson Drive Corridor Plan

Roeland Park, Kansas

This corridor plan focuses on two strategic areas within the City - establishing a community-supported vision for future redevelopment opportunities.

Leading a multi-disciplinary team, we engaged stakeholders and the community in exploring options for revitalizing these key areas of the City. The project included creating ideas for improving access to the City's existing Community Center and Aquatics facility from Roe Boulevard, exploring mixed-commercial and residential redevelopment opportunities for both site locations, identifying transit mobility hub locations and multi-modal access to these sites, and integrating new community-oriented open spaces and gathering areas as a place to host public festivals and events.

The plan also explored a variety of development density alternatives through the use of extensive visualization techniques, helping residents to understand the planning implications and scale of each redevelopment scenario. The successful completion of this plan led to the City engaging Confluence to subsequently complete an update to the City's Comprehensive Plan.
