The APA National Conference in San Francisco, CA is underway. Attendees can join Confluence planner Chris Shires for a presentation on The Dating Game: Selecting a Consultant this Tuesday, April 16th from 8:30am-9:45am PDT.

Is hiring a consultant like being a contestant on "The Dating Game"? In this session modeled after the game show, the "City" and the "Consultants" are screened and can ask questions before they choose their date. The questions are drawn from real experiences of planners in the public and private sectors.

Often communities do not have the time or expertise to complete planning projects in-house and need the assistance of a private planning consultant. There are many different approaches to issuing an RFP or RFQ - some that have worked well and others that did not have the anticipated results. This entertaining session focuses on sharing examples, experiences and valuable perspectives from both public and private-sector planners.
