The BMO Harris Park is envisioned to become a new green oasis in the dense urban neighborhood around Chicago's Union Station - an informal and curvilinear space focused around a Great Lawn while providing a contrast to the geometry of the surrounding buildings and streets.
Our team led the design and construction documents for this dynamic new urban park. The permeable design provides entries on all four site corners, welcoming pedestrians to walk through the park. It will also become a destination for a casual lunch, a concert or other special event. The centerpiece of this park is the Great Lawn - an emerald ellipse of grass bordered by a pedestrian promenade and framed by landscaped berms casting dappled shade over the walks and grass.
The Great Lawn and surrounding paving will also provide flexibility for diverse programming with which to attract and engage the public including seasonal food-and-beverage kiosks, a farmers market, outdoor yoga and exercise classes, and other small events and gatherings.
