Gallery Park / Little Bear Garden

Glenview, Illinois

This park is the heart of the 800-acre The Glen redevelopment project at the former Glenview Naval Air Station and serves as the centerpiece of community life for residents.

The redevelopment of this property to become a collection of neighborhoods required a significant central amenity area, and our professionals led the design of these park improvements in collaboration with our multi-disciplinary team.  The park includes a 55-acre lake - designed to serve both as a regional stormwater detention facility and as a focal point of the park.

Park enhancements include a children's garden and regional playground facility, two large areas dedicated to ball diamonds and soccer fields, a restored tallgrass prairie, a long grass meadow and two naturalistic upland areas. The park also includes numerous pedestrian and multi-use trails providing connectivity to the regional trail system. The lake is enhanced by wetland and riparian plantings above and below water level - with remote “habitat” islands surrounded by wetlands.
