Riverfront Park Master Plan
Kansas City, Missouri
The Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department selected Confluence to prepare a Master Plan for Riverfront Park, a 400-acre former landfill site located on the banks of the Missouri River north and east of Downtown Kansas City. Confluence led a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate the feasibility of developing marina and camping facilities in support of expanding water recreation and access to the river.
The team prepared conceptual plan ideas to guide future development around an existing, active boat launch. A full service, off-channel marina is proposed along with R.V. camping. An extensive network of recreation trails was designed to provide access to new fishing and picnic facilities and through a vast woodland area. An overlook feature is planned to provide visitors with a dramatic view along the Missouri River towards the Downtown skyline, and is anticipated to become a major park amenity.
