West Campus Park and Ride – University of Kansas
Lawrence, Kansas
Confluence was retained to provide landscape architectural services for this 1,500 car park and ride facility on the West Campus of the University of Kansas. Our landscape architects assisted the multi-disciplinary team in preparing the overall site configuration, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, monuments and wayfinding signage, landscape and irrigation design, pedestrian shelter design and site lighting. The use of limestone, cast stone and steel in the design create a visual link to the central campus while creating an identity that is unique to the west campus. Large shade trees and flowering shrubs create an aesthetic corridor from the entry drive, to the roundabout and into the east and west parking lots.
The new park and ride provides a viable solution to the parking issues of the central campus and allows the university the potential for continued west campus expansion.
