Park Central + Clyde Manor

Confluence was selected by MAC Properties to assist with the redevelopment of an inner city block of existing historic apartment buildings in Kansas City.  The site consists of four neglected apartment buildings and a parking lot. The historic Hyde Park community has experienced significant revitalization in recent years and MAC Properties, with a number of properties in the neighborhood, is dedicated to continued reinvestment in the Hyde Park area.

The initial phase of this multi-phased project involved the renovation of Clyde Manor, a prominent historic building that anchors the southeast corner of the site and is the most visible at this intersection of East Armour Boulevard and Gillham Road. The landscape installed around the building, comprised of hardy, native materials, complements the warm earth tones of the architecture and provides a low maintenance environment for residents.

The subsequent phase included the renovation of Park Central, a high rise apartment building situated immediately west of Clyde Manor and once home to some of Kansas City’s elite. The elegant architecture of Park Central, long since covered, was re-discovered and celebrated in the renovation of this dense urban community. The introduction of contemporary site details will add a sophisticated character to the common spaces without competing with the historic nature of the existing structure. A small space is converted into a lively entry courtyard serving the parking lot at the on the north side of the building. Another space, a courtyard between Park Central and the pool deck to the west, will be converted into an intimate gathering space secluded from the public to serve guests interested in hosting small barbecues or that simply want a quiet place to relax.
