Missouri Innovation Park

Blue Springs, Missouri

Confluence was retained to provide master planning services for this 500(+) acre research and innovation park that is intermixed with an 18-hole golf course and beautiful riparian corridors. The master plan was developed to take advantage of all of the existing and natural assets in order to provide research companies with highly attractive development sites. All building sites have immediate access to nature trails or are afforded stunning golf course views. The campus framework plan situates buildings and circulation ways to give priority to pedestrians by minimizing conflicts with vehicular circulation and introducing an extensive trail network that weaves throughout the buildings and wooded areas. Along the trails, outdoor seating areas are provided to foster further collaboration among employees and researchers. These “intelligent collision” spaces strengthen the program of taking an idea from conception to market.

A design standards manual was also developed for the campus to establish a common sense of development character and quality. Sustainable design features such as building orientation, storm water treatment and energy efficiency will be considered at all levels of park development.
