Longview Park + Aquatics Center

The addition of this 20-acre recreation park is a long needed and much anticipated addition to the Hickman Mills community in southeast Kansas City. Confluence was retained to develop the community-driven Longview Tract Park Master Plan. With the input of engaged and excited citizens, we developed a plan that incorporates 2 multi-use sports fields, trail connections, both indoor and outdoor aquatics facilities, and associated parking and picnic facilities. The park will also incorporate sustainable design elements such as porous pavement, bio-retention facilities, native grasses and solar powered site lighting.

Upon approval of the master plan, Confluence was retained to lead a multi-disciplinary design team in the development of final design documents and to oversee construction of the proposed park components. The project was organized into phases corresponding to implementation funding availability, which allowed for a coordinated and sequential construction implementation process. Phase I includes 2 fully irrigated sports fields and grading for the entire site.  Phase 2 consists of a large picnic shelter and concession stand, an equipment storage facility, and parking for 300 cars.  Phase 3 includes the outdoor aquatics facility complete with bathhouse and concession buildings.  Phase 4 is anticipated to include an indoor aquatics and recreation facility with an expanded parking area to serve the needs of the surrounding community.
