Iowa Orthopaedic Clinic
Des Moines, Iowa
Confluence was retained as part of a design team for the new Iowa Orthopaedic Clinic located on the Mercy Hospital Campus in Downtown Des Moines, Iowa. The topography of the 3.5-acre site is very steep in nature, and posed a challenge for the project given the use of the site as an orthopaedic clinic. Confluence worked with the architect and owner to develop a concept for a two-story building with two separate entrances, which alleviated the ADA access concerns of previously studied alternatives. Sustainable practices were also implemented with native plantings and rain gardens.
