Des Moines Art Festival Entrance
Des Moines, Iowa
The Des Moines Arts Festival has been ranked in the top 10 nationally as one of the most recognized and celebrated Arts Festivals in the United States. Confluence created entry plaza design concepts and features for the Des Moines Arts Festival on multiple occasions. The goals included developing a main entrance that was creative, eye-catching, and would be constructed with donated materials and volunteer labor – including Confluence staff.
Confluence collaborated with The Weitz Company, a local general contractor, to obtain donation materials such as paint, concrete sono-tubes and milk crates. Typically constructed over the span of two days, we constructed plaza spaces using large paint brushes as an iconic feature for Festival. Other materials included storm sewer and water main pipe, bamboo window blinds and multiple gallons of paint.
