Waukee Athletic Complex Master Plan

Waukee, Iowa

The City of Waukee hired Confluence to develop a Master Plan for a proposed Athletic Complex. The project is a joint effort with the Waukee Community School District as they are developing a second high school. The combined master plan graphics were recently completed to meet a critical deadline. Apple CEO, Tim Cook, referenced the perspective rendering during the announcement that Apple was not only building a data center in Waukee, but also donating up to $100 million to the City, with the first project being the athletic complex.

The graphics were the result of research and planning to ensure the plan meets the needs and expectations of the residents of Waukee. Confluence led tours of softball and baseball facilities around the Upper Midwest to identify what elements would meet the programming set forth by the City. The tours were also an opportunity to identify specific details that can be implemented during construction. Confluence believes that showing clients other sites is key to making sure they plan for their future. These type of visits are instrumental in seeing first-hand the issues that can develop and identify items that are critical to the success of a project.

This project is moving forward at a rapid pace. We anticipate construction documents being prepared in early 2018 and construction beginning that fall. This project is destined to be the envy of communities throughout the Midwest.
