Augustana College Athletics Complex + Soccer Field
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Augustana College selected Confluence to assist in the planning of their new athletic field. The existing 13-acre site is hilly and open, and is located on the south edge of a landlocked private college. The site is being used strategically to serve as a borrow area – providing fill material for the construction of a new football stadium on the campus. This approach allowed for a previously cost-prohibitive project to become financially feasible.
Phase I involved the construction of a soccer field that integrates a crowned surface with sub-surface drainage system and irrigation, all constructed to NCAA specifications. Planning for phased track improvements involved an international broken-back curve track with field events consolidated inside the track area.
