First Building on Campus to earn LEED Platinum Certification
August 8, 2012
The new University of Iowa Information Technology Facility (ITF) has become the first building on campus to earn LEED Platinum certification.· view full ·
The site design for the University of Iowa Technology Facility sought to achieve several goals in contributing toward LEED Platinum Certification: choosing a site that had been previously disturbed by construction; restoring or protecting 50% of the site (not counting the building footprint); providing open space equal to the building footprint; reducing the amount of storm water runoff by collecting in a retention basin and allowing it to infiltrate into the ground; improving the quality of the storm water runoff by collecting and filtering out particulates and reducing water usage by choosing native plants.
For more information regarding this project, please see the article published on the University of Iowa’s website at http://sustainability.uiowa.edu/data-center-earns-leed-platinum/

Just Completed: Main Street Streetscape – Phase One
May 1, 2012
The Main Street Corridor Development Corporation (MainCor) hosted “The Main Event” on May 1, 2012 to celebrate their 30th Anniversary. Patterson Plaza.· view full ·
This multi-phase streetscape enhancement project incorporates new street and pedestrian-scaled light fixtures, decorative site furnishings, and amenities that identify the Main Street Corridor as a unique district connecting Kansas City’s major tourist destinations and historic neighborhoods. This award-winning project has received numerous accolades thus far, including a front page story in yesterday’s edition of the Kansas City Star.
Kansas City Mayor Sly James said he is impressed by the architectural changes in the streetscape. “You changed the way it looks, and because of that you’ve changed the way people feel about it,” James told MainCor leaders. “That is a huge, huge thing to do.”
Confluence is continuing our work designing subsequent phases of corridor streetscape implementation, and we are thrilled with the response and support this exciting project has received in the community thus far.
