Our Firm

On June 29, 1998, Brian Clark, Ann Reinhart and Chris Della Vedova founded Brian Clark and Associates on the second floor of the Teachout Building in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. A diverse project portfolio developed early, as they had built strong relationships in the architectural community, with local developers, and with the State’s universities. Initial success was based on creativity, unique solutions, service, and an incredible work ethic.

From 2003 to 2008, the Firm experienced tremendous growth, going from 10 employees to 30 and expanding geographically to include offices in Kansas City (2003), Sioux Falls (2005), and Iowa City (2008). Over the first decade, Brian Clark and Associates had become one the largest landscape architecture firms in the Midwest, and one of the most decorated, garnering 36 design awards from state, regional and national organizations.

In 2008, the Firm changed its name to Confluence to better represent the group and how we approach our work……bringing people and ideas together, naturally. Brian and Chris still serve as leaders in collaboration with 4 additional Principals, all inspired by the same qualities that started the firm……providing creative solutions uniquely suited to challenging projects and exceeding clients’ expectations.
