The City of North Kansas City and Mid-America Regional Council are working with a Confluence-led design team, to identify recommended improvements for the Burlington Corridor Complete Street Design. The goals of this project include:
– Transform the corridor’s physical appearance – embracing the existing industrial character to strengthen NKC’s authentic sense of place.
– Support future private-sector revitalization and redevelopment activities throughout the corridor through sustainable infrastructure investment and beautification.
– Integrate all modes of transportation into the future vision for the corridor – including vehicles, transit, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
The project builds on previous and on-going City studies. Community engagement is an important part of this project, and opportunities for the City’s Advisory Committee and North Kansas City residents/business owners to provide input have been integrated into our team’s design process. The plan is anticipated to be completed in early 2016.
